The exhibition Opções & Futuros (Options & Futures), held in 2009 in the White Pavilion of the current Museu da Cidade, is part of the PLMJ Foundation’s line of action to promote contemporary Portuguese art through the works in its collection. After exhibitions dedicated to photography, video and the 1980s and 1990s, the PLMJ Foundation is now promoting a project that focuses on new values, offering an overview of Portuguese art from the post-2000 generation.
Curated by Miguel Amado, the exhibition brings together around 80 works in various media by artists whose careers began in recent years. Among the 30 artists represented are Adriana Molder, Bruno Pacheco, Carlos Bunga, Joana Pimentel, João Maria Gusmão + Pedro Paiva, Pedro Barateiro, Ricardo Jacinto, Ricardo Valentim, Rita Sobral Campos and Rodrigo Oliveira. With Options & Futures, the PLMJ Foundation once again fulfils its mission to promote contemporary creation in Portugal.
In this way, the PLMJ Foundation contributes to the affirmation of emerging creation in the national context. This commitment to new values stems from the innovative spirit of the PLMJ Foundation and is a pioneering gesture in the Portuguese collecting scene.
