O Estado das Coisas (The State of Things) proposes a reflection on different relationships between individuals and contexts, historical moments and self-referential situations, but also poetic and critical, yet utopian. The exhibition brings together nine artists: Ana Rito, Ângela Ferreira, Cecília Costa, Filipa César, Isabel Carvalho, Jorge Dias, Julião Sarmento, Noé Sendas and Pedro Barateiro. The title of the exhibition is an appropriation of the title of a work by the artist Ângela Ferreira from 2003, Hotel da Praia Grande (O Estado das Coisas), which is also the title of a film by Wim Wenders, The State of Things, in Portuguese O Estado das Coisas, which was partly filmed in Praia Grande, in Sintra, in the 1980s.
