Medo do Escuro | Fear of the Dark An exhibition by Pedro Amaral
Synopsis

The exhibition Medo do Escuro (Fear of the Dark) is an example of the artistic production of the artist Pedro Amaral, who has developed a critical and ironic commentary on various cultural organisations and consumer society.

One of the series that make up this exhibition is a series of works dedicated to South Korea, where the artist held an exhibition in 2008, characterised by the use of illustration techniques and graphic images from Western imagery. According to Miguel Amado Medo do Escuro rescues the body of work from the unsuccessful exhibition in South Korea and intertwines it with Artist’s Studio No. 1 (Look Mickey), by Lic. 1 (Look Mickey) by Lichtenstein, realising his own version of this work through a confrontation with the recent past and its aesthetic affiliation”.
