The exhibition Autores Lusófonos I (Lusophone Artists I) held in Maputo in 2016, presents the work of artists who represent a post-colonial generation that has built its work under the banner of liberation and the transformations that the newly independent societies have undergone, as new nations facing the challenge of freedom and democracy, in a world context in which globalisation is taking hold, affecting all levels of society, all social classes and the most diverse economic sectors.
The artists selected for the exhibition are present on the international scene: this means that the circulation of the artists and their works has in many cases found its way beyond the local or regional sphere, regardless of their country of origin, but it also means that their working context is the world, the international contemporary art circuit, living between different cities and countries, in a cultural diversity between several quadrants and continents.
