PLMJ Foundation and PLMJ become founding patrons of the new Gulbenkian Modern Art Centre

The PLMJ Foundation and PLMJ have formalised a protocol with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to become founding patrons of the new Modern Art Centre (Centro de Arte Moderna - CAM).

The protocol was signed by Bruno Ferreira, managing partner of PLMJ, Eduardo Nogueira Pinto, executive chairman of the PLMJ Foundation, Nuno Ferreira Morgado, board member of the PLMJ Foundation, António Feijó, chairman of the board of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins, administrator of the Gulbenkian Foundation.

Bruno Ferreira: “We are deeply honoured and proud to join the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as founding patrons of the new CAM. This is the most significant cultural project the country has seen in decades. Beyond being an absolutely extraordinary architectural endeavour, it will elevate the city of Lisbon and Portugal to new heights in cultural programming.”

Eduardo Nogueira Pinto: “The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a cornerstone of arts, knowledge, and science. For us, this protocol is naturally intertwined with PLMJ’s history. Over 20 years ago, PLMJ founded the PLMJ Foundation, making culture the central pillar of its patronage. Today, the PLMJ Foundation’s active role in promoting emerging culture, both in Portugal and across Portuguese-speaking countries, is reflected in our collection of over 1,400 works by more than 500 artists. This partnership with the Gulbenkian not only underscores but also reaffirms our commitment to culture and society.”

António Feijó, president of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, described the significance of the partnership: “This collaboration is a major step forward in amplifying the cultural and artistic reach of the new CAM and engaging new audiences. Partners like PLMJ are vital in helping the Foundation fulfil its mission of promoting contemporary art and supporting emerging artists and cultural initiatives in Portugal.”
