Options & Futures #1 and #2 | Works from the collection of the PLMJ Foundation

The two volumes dedicated to the Foundation’s Options & Futures collection programme, the first published in 2008 and the second in 2010, provide an overview of recent artistic creation since 2006, the year in which the first exhibition of this programme was held at the Arte Contempo space in Lisbon.
The two volumes present 215 works by 105 artists, in 5 exhibitions, covering 4 years of the first decade of this century, in which the number of emerging artists grew exponentially. These two volumes offer a transversal and multidisciplinary view of this period, which has proved to be a very interesting one in the panorama of contemporary Portuguese art, and a founding element of the PLMJ Foundation’s collection.

CATALOGUE:
The catalogue for the exhibition Options & Futures brings together a selection of the artists and works featured in the first volume, published in 2008. The exhibition was held in 2009 in the White Pavilion of the current Museum of Lisbon. This exhibition and catalogue are a fundamental element in understanding the Foundation’s commitment to the new generations of Portuguese artists and those from the CPLP.
