Tomaz Hipólito (b. 1969) lives and works in Lisbon. Trained in Architecture, he has been active as an artist since the early 2000s. He has participated in several artist residencies, including Location One (New York, 2010), Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa (Lisbon, 2009), and Residency Unlimited (New York, 2013). He was awarded grants from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD).

He has held solo exhibitions at institutions and galleries such as MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (Lisbon, 2018), Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea – Museu do Chiado (Lisbon, 2011), Museu da Imagem (Braga, 2007), Galeria Graça Brandão (Lisbon), Galeria Pedro Oliveira (Porto), Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art (Lisbon), and Kubikgallery (Porto).

He has taken part in numerous group exhibitions at venues including Fundação Carmona e Costa, Fundação EDP, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Museu Berardo, Palais de Tokyo (Paris), and Centro Cultural Vila Flor (Guimarães), among others. His work is included in several public and private collections, such as the Portuguese State Contemporary Art Collection, Fundação EDP and Fundação Carmona e Costa.
