Rui Ferreira

Rui Miguel Leitão Ferreira (1977, Lisbon). He lives and works between Lisbon and Vienna, graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (2005) and obtained an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London (2012). Throughout his career, he has received awards such as the Chelsea Arts Club Trust Fund Award (London, 2011) and 1st Prize in the La Mútua Painting Competition (Granollers, Spain, 2007). His work has been exhibited in several outstanding solo exhibitions. In 2023, he held Posing for Sue at The Sunday Painter, London, Outdoors - Paintings for a Post-Pandemic World at the Mind Set Art Centre, Taipei, and New Paintings from the Lake at Galerie Krinzinger, Vienna. Other solo exhibitions include Nem Vale Nem Montanha (Galeria 111, Lisbon, 2020) and #nervosa (Galeria 111, Lisbon, 2017). She has participated in important group exhibitions, such as Variation at the Mind Set Art Centre, Taipei (2023), and In the Kingdom of Clouds: Artists and the Invention of Sintra at the Sintra Arts Museum (MU.SA, 2021). In 2019, he took part in Constelações: A Choreography of Minimal Gestures at the Berado Museum, Lisbon, and Fuck The Digital at Low Studios, London. Since 2003, his work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as the Centre Cultural Metropolita Tecla Sala (Barcelona), the Focus-Abengoa Foundation (Seville), and the European Young Creators Salon (France, Spain and Portugal). With significant artistic residencies, including Krinzinger Projekte in Croatia, Austria and Hungary, and SoART in Austria.
