Pedro Cabrita Reis (Lisbon, 1956) graduated from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts in 1973.  His most important solo exhibitions include Luz e Sombra at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's Gallery of Modern Art in Lisbon (1994), The House of the Thing at the Belém Cultural Centre (1996) and A Casa dos Outros at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art (2000). His work has also been widely exhibited at major biennials, including the Venice Biennial (2003, 2013) and the São Paulo Biennial (1998). He has also participated in Documenta IX in Kassel (1992) and major events such as the Triennial of Contemporary Art in Oostende (2006). He recently presented Pedro Cabrita Reis - Atelier, Mitra-Polo de Invação Spocial, Lisboa 2024. Cabrita’s work can be found in collections such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Serralves Museum and the Chiado Museum. His work has been recognised with several awards, including the honour of Grand Officer of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator, awarded by the President of Portugal in 2023.
