Paulo Kussy

Angola

Paulo Kussy (Luanda, 1978) showed an early interest in the visual arts, making his first sketches while still in primary school. Encouraged by his parents and teachers, he decided to explore his artistic vocation as a child, travelling to Rome, Venice, London, Madrid, Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro to visit the world's most prestigious museums. In 1990, at the age of twelve, he moved to Lisbon. Still in Portugal, since 1999 he has worked as a live portraitist and caricaturist with cultural event production and animation companies. In 2003, he graduated in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. He returned to Luanda in 2006. Since 2006 he has been working for the Angolan Ministry of Culture, teaching at the National School of Plastic Arts, DINFA - National Directorate for Artistic Training. In 2008, he began working in higher education, teaching Artistic Drawing for the Architecture programme.
