Paulo Kapela

Angola

Paulo Kapela (Angola, 1947–2021) was a self-taught Angolan artist.
He participated in exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale (2007), the Dakar Biennale (2004), and the São Tomé and Príncipe Biennale. He also took part in the 52nd Venice Biennale (2007), the Dakar Biennale (2004), and the Luanda Triennale (2006). Among his solo and group exhibitions, highlights include shows at Tate Modern in London (2010), the Palais des Arts in Paris, and the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA).
His work is part of various collections, including the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the National Museum of Contemporary Art – Museu do Chiado, the PLMJ Foundation, the Sindika Dokolo Foundation, and the African Contemporary Art Collection.
