Nú Barreto (Guinea-Bissau, 1966) lives and works in Paris. He graduated from l’Ecole Nationale des Métiers de l’Image des Gobelins in Paris. His notable solo exhibitions include L’imparfait et l’impératif at Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Paris (2021), Homo Imparfaits at Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Brussels (2019), and Afrique, renversante, renversée at the same gallery (2018).
In group exhibitions, he participated in EUROPA, Oxalá, which toured Lisbon and Brussels (2022), Reclaiming Magic at the Royal Academy of Arts, London (2021), Ensemble / Together at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2020), and The Future of Memory at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon (2019).
His work is part of significant collections, including the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rabat, Morocco, the PLMJ Foundation, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Collection in Lisbon, and the EDP Foundation Art Museum in Lisbon.
