Born in Lisbon (1964), lives and works in Lisbon and New York.
He holds a degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts (FBAUL) of the University of Lisbon (1992); a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, NY (1994/96); and a PhD from FBAUL (2004). Since 2002, he has been a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon.
Selected exhibitions since 1991: Visual Arts Museum (curated by Klaus Kertess), Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery, Walter Reade Theater, Lincoln Center, Storefront for Art and Architecture, and Bill Brady/ATM Gallery (NY). He has also exhibited at MUDAM, Luxembourg; Museu do Chiado; CAM – Gulbenkian, Carmona e Costa Foundation, and Galeria 111, Lisbon; Laure Genillard Gallery, London; RAM Foundation, Rotterdam; and Serralves Foundation, Porto.
