Marta Soares

Marta Soares (Lisbon, 1973) studied Visual Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. Between 1988 and 1993, she attended the experimental studio Atelier Livre, under the guidance of Pedro Morais. Her first solo exhibition was in 1993 at Galeria Monumental II, titled Diário de Agosto 1992. Since 1997, her work has been exhibited in institutions such as the Estremadura and Ibero-American Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Elvas.
Recent solo exhibitions include Pinturas Arrancadas à Noite (2018) and Vermelha (2017). Her works are part of the collections of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Ilídio Pinho Foundation, and PLMJ Foundation.
