Margarida Paiva (Coimbra, 1975) is a visual artist living in Oslo, and working with film, photography and installation. In 2007, she completed her Master's degree at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and has earlier studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto.
Recent work is the outcome of a personal exploration into the mystical dimension of the natural world. It is inspired by folklore, fairytales and ancient myths, where Nature is frequently linked with the human psyche relating to the unconscious. Using references to ecofeminism, these works aim to investigate the intersections between gender, ecology, activism and spirituality.
