Manuel Rosa (Beja, 1953) graduated from the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes de Lisboa. In the early 1980s, he was both a student and collaborator of João Cutileiro. He first presented his work in 1981 at the 1st Stone Sculpture Symposium in Évora and has been holding solo exhibitions since 1984, starting with his show at Galeria Módulo – Centro Difusor de Arte, Lisbon.
His most recent solo exhibitions include: Clareira, SNBA, Lisbon (2018); Esculturas – Obras da Coleção de Serralves, Museu Internacional de Escultura Contemporânea, Santo Tirso (2018); Clareira, CIAJG, Guimarães (2019); Primeiro os pés __ depois a cabeça, Ala da Frente, Vila Nova de Famalicão (2019); Ora as sombras existem, Land Art Cascais, Quinta do Pisão, Cascais (2020); Escultura, Galeria Neupergama, Torres Novas (2022).
In addition to other solo and group exhibitions, he has participated in sculpture symposia and conceived public art projects, such as Homenagem a D. João II (1998), a public sculpture created for the Parque das Nações, Lisbon, during Expo’98.
