The self-taught artist Rafael José Maússe Júnior (Magadju Maússe) was born on 18 September 1976. After returning from South Africa, where he worked as a miner, he joined ACHUFRE (Associação Cultural Hulene em Frente), where he took his first steps as an artist in 2002. In 2008, he participated in a ceramics course at the ENAV (National School of Visual Arts) as part of the Reformulate to Professionalise project. He has been an interest cycle monitor in Mabilibilo (Bela Vista), Moamba and at C.S.T (Tsembeka Social Cooperative), in Infulene, in the project for the social reintegration of children in conflict with the law; and an Art in the Landscape workshop in Magude, Boane, Moamba and Katlehong Art Centre (RSA). He has participated in several group exhibitions, including Juslie Heicoop and ACHUFRE (Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center - "CCFM") in 2003; TDM Bienal Museu Nacional de Arte and ACHUFRE Longo Percurso (CCFM) in 2005; FUNDAC Núcleo de Arte and Katlehong Art Centre (RSA) in 2007; ENE Bienal Museu Nacional de Arte and ACHUFRE.
