João Leonardo

João Leonardo (Odemira, 1974) currently lives and works in Klippan, Sweden.
He graduated in Art History, with the Bachelor of Art (Hons) from the FCSH, Nova University Lisbon. He attended the Independent Study Programme at Maumaus School of Visual Arts. He concluded the Master's programme of Fine Arts at Malmö Art Academy, Lund University (2009) with a study grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He was a resident artist at the International Kunstlerhaus Villa Concordia (Bamberg, 2010-2011) and winner of the EDP Foundation’s New Artists Award (2005). In 2020 and 2022 he received a one year working grant from Konstnärsnämnden / The Swedish Arts Grants Committee, Sweden.
