Isabel Baraona

Isabel Baraona (Cascais, 1974) has been teaching at ESAD.CR since 2003 in the Visual Arts course. She holds a PhD in Visual Arts and Intermedia from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). In 2013, she received a scholarship from the University Rennes 2 (France), where she developed research that led to the project Tipo.pt, an online archive about artist books and author editions in Portugal.
In 2001, she began her professional career with a solo exhibition titled mythologies, and since then, she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. She was one of the founding members of Oficina do Cego - Associação de Artes Gráficas, with which she collaborated until 2013. Between 2011 and 2016, she was one of the organisers of o que um livro pode, annual meetings focused on artist books and author editions. She has been an informal collaborator with JAB – Journal of Artists' Books since 2011.
