Henrique Seruca

Henrique Seruca (Porto, 1969) studied Photography at Ar.Co in Lisbon and received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to attend a course at the University of Helsinki. In 1995, he exhibited at the Fotofestival Naarden, organized by the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, and was invited by critic Amanda Hopkinson to participate in the group exhibition Reflection by 10 Portuguese Photographers at the Royal Theatre in London. His work has been featured in numerous prestigious publications, including Time Magazine, New York Times, GEO France, The European, The Independent, El Pais, Público, Rotas e Destinos, and Associated Press, as well as in travel guides such as the Essencial series for Paris, London, Rome, Marrakech, Cuba, New York, and Rio de Janeiro, and the official journal of the AIAS (International Association of Independent Art and Design Schools).
In 2008, he founded Henrique Seruca Photography, based on Madeira Island, with a studio in Lisbon.He has published several books, including O Livro Madeira e Porto Santo, Na Rota das Estrelas – uma Viagem Gastronómica, Madeira by Benoit Sinthon Chef 2 estrelas Michelin, and 200 anos a Família Blandy. His work is part of collections such as the PLMJ Foundation and Jason Associates.
