Graça Pereira Coutinho (Lisbon, 1949) studied sculpture at ESBAL.
In 1971 she went to London for postgraduate studies at the St. Martins School of Art, where she still lives today. In 1974 she received a grant from the ILEA, London, and between 1975 and 1977 a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon.
Among the numerous institutions where she has held exhibitions are the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon), the Serralves Foundation (Porto), the Caixa Geral de Depósitos (Lisbon), the Osaka Museum of Contemporary Art (Japan), the MAC (Badajoz), the National Historical Museum (Rio de Janeiro), the British Centre (São Paulo) and the Ecco Cultural Centre (Brasília).
She frequently exhibits in Portugal and abroad: Todd Gallery, London; Galeria Graça Fonseca, Lisbon; Galeria Cristina Guerra, Lisbon; Galeria Porta 33, Funchal; Galeria João Esteves de Oliveira, Lisbon; among others.
Her works can be found in private collections and in the collections of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, the António Prates Foundation, the PLMJ Foundation, the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Belém, the Museu de Arte Contemporânea Osaka (Japan), the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Centro Cultural de Belém, among others. Also noteworthy is the prize he received at the Osaka Triennial in Japan in 1991.
