Born in Lisbon, she moved to Brazil at the age of 4 with her family. Due to her father's work with FAO, she lived in various countries, including Madagascar, Bolivia, Italy, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Kenya. Returning to Portugal, she studied at IADE and later at Ar.Co, focusing on photography. With a scholarship, she worked on a project about the Portuguese community in New England, leading to her first solo exhibition. After working at Expresso, she became a freelancer, publishing 11 books on documentary photography.
