Carlos Lemos (1962) lives and works in Lisbon. An amateur photographer and a retired Portuguese navy officer (captain), he holds a degree in Hydrographic Engineering, a bachelor's degree in Naval Military Sciences from the Naval Academy (Alfeite), and a doctorate in Marine Sciences from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona. He has been a guest lecturer at the Instituto Superior Técnico and served as Director of Instruction at the School of Hydrography and Oceanography of the Hydrographic Institute, where he also taught. In his professional field, he is the author of the book Wave Breaking: A Numerical Study (Springer, 1992). In photography, he is noted for the series documenting the construction of the railway crossing on the 25th of April Bridge over the Tagus River, published in the book Ponte 25 de Abril 1997-1999: Registo de uma mudança (Intermezzo Audiovisuais).
