António Sena

António Sena (1941–2024) attended engraving courses at A Gravura - Sociedade Cooperativa de Gravadores Portugueses and studied at St. Martin's School of Art in London with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He taught at Ar.Co - Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual between 1978 and 1992. Selected exhibitions: António Sena. Pintura at the Modern Art Centre of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, 2002, and António Sena: Pintura, Desenho 1964-2003 at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto, 2003. Jorge Silva Melo (1948–2022) directed the documentary António Sena a mão esquiva (2009), focusing on his work. António Sena received several awards, including the EDP Painting Prize in 2011 and the Grand Prize Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso in the same year.
